"Re-Inventing the Wheel" and introducing a new product to the marketplace is difficult at the best of times but Trac Measurement Ltd's successful approach to overcome the many pitfalls of this is quite simply their ability to LISTEN. TMS's many customers are attracted by the company's ability to offer a single fully integrated source for R&D, design, manufacture and service.
A partnership for success starts with a partnership with the customer, this is exactly the road that TMS took on their journey to design and manufacture the ‘New Fir-Tree Root Gauge'. Gauging of Fir-Tree Roots throughout the years has primarily involved the use of Coordinate Measuring Machines or Multi-Point Tooling which possess their own individual advantages and of course disadvantages. The CMM is flexible but it is slow, mainly used offline and requires skilled operators. Multi-Point Tooling is fast, shopfloor hardened and requires no specific operation skills however provides limited measurement capability it is expensive to tool up with each part needing individual tooling and setting masters, changeovers are slow and requires skilled operators.
Our ethos on partnering customers to provide the ‘Right Solution' meant that Trac embarked on the design and manufacture of the ‘New Fir-Tree' gauge that encapsulated all the advantages of the CMM and Multi-Point Tooling without any of the disadvantages. The new gauge has attributes such as Speed, Shopfloor Hardened, Un-skilled operation, No dedicated tooling, No individual setting masters, In-line or Offline operation and ease of programming. The gauge has been met with great praise and enthusiasm from our partnering customer and indeed many other potential customers.
In today's global manufacturing of metrology equipment there is no hiding place for the also ran's. Any company that wishes to be successful must be a World Class Solution Provider. Trac's investment in time with the customer and their intent to LISTEN contributes to the continuing success of their products and their reputation in the marketplace.
The Fir Tree Root Gauge will be featured at the up and coming Paris Airshow: Hall 2B, Aisle F111
