Semi-Auto Head Gauge
The gauge will be constructed around a substantial baseplate, from which all details will be mounted.
The component will be loaded manually by the operator onto a lapped block featuring dirt clearance grooves and against a delrin back-stop.
The operator will load the component against an automatic delrin backstop which will traverse the part to and from the pre-programmed position.
The Barcode Reader will select the program and the gauge will automatically drive the Z axis to the appropriate height and the Y axis will be driven automatically to centralise the specific component.
A Type39 barcode reader specified by the customer will load the program automatically for each individual head component.
Component position onto centerline will be controlled by a Delrin Cone, which will be automatically lowered onto the component to centralise it.
Other than datum faces the gauge will incorporate non-metallic components in and around the measuring head to avoid possible scratching of the head components. Delrin guides either side of the seating plate will protect the probes either side and reduce the possibility of scratching the part.
2 off standard Heidenhain Digital probes will measure the component for diameter. Contact will be made with Ø4.8mm lapped carbide faces.
1 off standard Heidenhain Digital Probe will be used to measure overall height, again contacting the component using a Ø4.8mm lapped carbide face.
Fully automatic air circuits will be used for retraction.
The gauge will be calibrated using a single master part, which will be supplied by the customer complete with calibration certificate.
The customer will also supply Max & Min size “calibrated” components to verify the accuracy over the range.
All probes will be connected to a WS-843gs integrated PC & Touch Screen featuring TRAC Measurement Systems GaugeXplorer software.
