The profile of an aerofoil is very complex, and it has a critical bearing on the performance of the engine.  Traditional inspection techniques are Hard Gauges, Optical Comparators and CMM's and these are used in conjunction with one another to determine whether or not an aerofoil falls within drawing specified limits for contour, bow, twist, chord and other key parameters.  This gauging approach is proven but with drawbacks of speed and flexibility the industry needed something new.  Trac Measurement Systems Non-contact Aerofoil Inspection Machine couples state-of-the-art polychromatic white light technology with the powerful and user friendly Trac GaugeXPlorer software.
